  • Why The Big Names For Cartoon Voices

I do not get having big name actors in an animated film.  Maybe a Robin Williams in Happy Feet, but all the other actors?  I know there is much, much better voice talent in Hollywood while the “acting” and story belong to the animators and creators.  Perhaps I shouldn’t get so amped up about this as big actors or small actors, my ticket prices are the same.  The DVD will be the same, it really is only the studios who are losing out by using big name talent.  Like a five year old will see Kung Fu Panda because it has the voices of Dustin Hoffman and Angelina Jolie.  And maybe the studios do not really pay a lot, but the actors do it for posterity and only the big backend.

Kids flicks do huge at the box office and DVD sales, with a strong shelf life.  So, maybe big actors can get in for residuals and a backend cut?

Don’t know, but I know the studios have to be smarter than wasting millions to cast big name actors in kids films.
