If today’s film maker would only decide from the outset to make money, they could do amazing things. Truly break new ground. Consider the film The Underground Comedy Movie, a film by Vince Offer from Shamwow and SlapChop fame. Before his direct to market success he made this film and was finally able to sell 100,000 units @ $10 a piece via late night infomercials. That is a million dollar gross. Or consider American Movie star Mark Borchardt who used his fame to sell his short film Coven to fund his decades long feature project Northwestern. Ok, both examples may be a bit far as these two guys are quite colorful. Still, thinking about the making of money can have positive consequences.
Roger Corman thought profit all along and look at his list of careers impacted. He is credited with starting careers like Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Jonathan Demme, James Cameron, Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda, Bruce Dern, Dennis Hopper, Talia Shire, Robert De Niro, and David Carradine.
